PLEASE NOTE: I am currently having the Venus figure re-moulded so that her bail is rotated 90 degrees so that the hole faces forwards, which will allow me to put her on a jump ring, rather than having to sell her already on a chain, or doing some other thing so that she faces the right way on your necklace. I hope that makes sense! She should be otherwise the same as the photos, but will be more versatile to hang. Thanks!

This pendant is inspired by Paleolithic Venus figurines, with their sumptuous curves and tapered legs. People disagree about why these figures appeared the way they did, sometimes pregnant, sometimes with prominent genitalia. I like the interpretation by Helen Benigni that says ‘the consistency in design of these featureless, large-breasted, often pregnant figures throughout a wide region and over a long period of time suggests they represent an archetype of a female Supreme Creator. Neolithic, Bronze Age, and Iron Age inhabitants likely connected women as creators innately tied to the cycles of nature.’ (source: Wikipedia). Either way, I love her and especially her cute little bum.

Each piece is cast in precious metal from a meticulously carved master, and is hand polished to a brushed satin finish. Items will have some variation in their finish from the one pictured, making each one individual and retaining that handmade feel.

This charm is available in sterling silver, 14k gold-plated silver or solid 18k yellow gold and comes with a jump ring for you to attach to your charm bracelet or necklace.

Gold plated items are plated in 14k yellow gold over sterling silver. The plating will last fairly well - about a year or two - if the piece is not worn constantly or worn so that it rubs against other items of jewellery. It can be re-plated for a fee - please enquire by e-mail.
